Foreign investment and tax insights at MyXaaS Innovation Centre

Feb 19, 2025

In cooperation with Kolaxus – Innovation and Collaboration, we are excited to host Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and Baker Tilly Malaysia as speakers at our Finexus MyXaaS Innovation Centre in Cyberjaya.

MDEC Head of Foreign Investment Kamelinder Singh shared about the organisation’s role in offering

  • Foreign tech talent facilitation
  • Startup ecosystem support and access
  • Policy / Regulatory advocacy
  • Grants and alternative funding

He shared how MDEC aspires especially to attract more FDIs that create job opportunities for Malaysians. For example, data centre investments alone (66% of investments) created 15.8% of jobs in 2024.

Baker Tilly Malaysia Executive Director Marcus Tan shared a power-packed session on tax optimisation covering CGT, stamp duty, and e-invoicing.

Amongst others, he shared how companies can take advantage of the massive accelerated capital allowance (ACA) of initial allowance at 20% and annual allowance of 40% – if e-invoicing is implemented before the 6-month interim relaxation period.

This is great news! That means companies with annual turnover of RM150,000 – RM25 million can enjoy the ACA above – if they implement their e-invoicing by 1 July 2025. Interested for more? Stay tuned to our platforms!
